HOULTON, Maine — It was a fall sports season to cherish for many Houlton High School athletes as the Shire girls captured their first gold ball in soccer in 30 years.
The Shires held their fall sports awards night on Monday, Nov. 13.
Receiving the senior All-Academic awards for the Penobscot Valley Conference were: Devin Ivey, Nick Perfitt, Abe Lorom, Tim Youngfellow, Zachary Fitzpatrick, Dawson Mclaughlin, Tyra Gentle, Amelia Hanning, Anessa Wilde, Kolleen Bouchard, Aspen Flewelling, Rebecca Mooers and Carolyn Mooers.
Named to the All Aroostook squad were: cross country, Jeremy Cook; boys soccer, Fitzpatrick, Keegan Gentle, Pat Howe, Lorom and Perfitt; golf, Nick Brewer, Wyatt Harvey, Drew Marino and Isaac Vega; girls soccer Bouchard, Flewelling, Gentle, Hanning, Sierra Hoops and Tessa Solomon.
Named as Penobscot Valley Conference all stars were: boys soccer, Pat Howe (first team), Perfitt (second team), Gentle (third team) and Lorom (honorable mention); girls soccer, Bouchard (first team), Hanning (first team), Gentle (first team); Flewelling (second team) Hoops (honorable mention) and Jamie Brown (honorable mention).
Bouchard was named to the All-State team and was also the recipient of the Butch Shaw award and PVC Class C girls Player of the Year.
Named to the PVC team in golf were: Nick Brewer (first team), Drew Marino (first team) and Wyatt Harvey (first team).
