Heidi Tompkins Knight

ORMOND BEACH, Florida – Heidi Tompkins Knight, 62, passed peacefully in her Ormond Beach home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 1, 1955, in Presque Isle, Maine, the daughter of Roland and Joanne Tompkins.

She spent her early years growing up on her family farm on State Road in Mapleton. She attended Presque Isle High School where she met the love of her life, and husband of 44 years, Eugene Knight. They spent many years traveling, and raising a family of two boys, at their home in Squa Pan Lake. They eventually settled in a beautiful home in Ormond Beach, FL, where she spent her final years enjoying a full quality of life while battling pancreatic cancer. She defied all odds, and fought long past what was predicted by every medical professional.
Heidi was an amazing woman who impacted many lives. She was devoted to her family, and showed unyielding love to all she cared for. She was a woman of strong and exemplary faith. She had a warm smile and infectious laugh that could brighten any day. She was an incredible friend, and an extremely hard-worker. She loved spending time with, and being surrounded by her family. Heidi’s passion of travel led her to settle in Florida with her husband, Gene, where they spent many years.
Heidi is survived by the love of her life and husband of 44 years, Eugene Knight, of Ormond Beach, Florida; her two sons, Seth Knight, and his wife Katina, of Deerfield Beach, FL, Jacob Knight, and his wife Penny, of West Palm Beach, FL; father, Roland Tompkins and wife, Pauline, of Bradenton, FL; sisters, Rolanda Tompkins LeCrone of Waynesville, NC, and Holly Tompkins Setzer, and her husband, Timothy, of Live Oak, FL; grandson, Kolby Knight, of Portland, ME.
Heidi’s love, faith, and devotion touched many deeply. She will be forever missed, and never forgotten. May she rest peacefully, and live on in our hearts. Service information will be in the Bangor Daily News and Star Herald in the Spring.
