VERNON BRADFORD AUSTIN, HOULTON – Vernon Bradford Austin, 90, passed away on November 17, 2017. He was born June 22, 1927, the son of Floyd and Netty Austin.
Vernon, who served in the Army during World War II, was a longtime farmer working his own land as well as working for R.H. Henderson in Littleton. Vernon married the love of his life, Evelyn McCarthy, and had three children.
Vernon is survived by his daughter, Barbara Tarr and her husband, Leigh, of Oakfield; grandsons, Charles and his wife, Evelyn, of Oakfield and their children, Josey, Austin, Andrew, Dehesorae, Katey and Nathaniel; Corey Austin and his wife, Gloria, and their son, Will of Houlton; and granddaughter, Angela Austin, and her daughters, Kaitlin and Carolyn Hannigan of Houlton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Austin of New Limerick and a very special niece, Nancy Austin Lavoie, of Standish. Vernon was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, and sons, Charles and Donnie.
Services were held on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, in Houlton, with visiting at 12 p.m. and funeral services at 1 p.m. with Chris Drew officiating. For an online memory book and to leave condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com
