PRESQUE ISLE, Maine— The Wintergreen Arts Center is holding its 10th annual Family Gingerbread Festival on Saturday, Dec. 2.
“This is a special time of year when the center is all decked out for the holiday season and festival goers are greeted by the yummy smell of fresh gingerbread and the sweet sounds of Christmas music,” said Dottie Hutchins, the center’s executive director.
Families may choose from three sessions –10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. — to build gingerbread houses. Wintergreen staff will serve hot cocoa and offer free face painting and games.
The event is sponsored by area businesses, with gingerbread baked by culinary arts students at Loring Job Corps.
Families may purchase one kit to decorate, or several if they have eager builders in tow. Kits are $20 and each includes a preassembled house, candy buffet, two gingerbread people and royal icing.
Kits are limited. Call the Center at (207) 762-3576 for more information or to reserve a kit.
