Letter to the Editor:
I recently read about the passing of Paul Haines from Limestone. I just wanted to publicly offer my condolences to his family and to remember this man for spearheading a major challenge in his life. That being the first round of base closures in the mid-seventies.
Under his leadership the Save Loring Committee was successful in reversing the decision to mothball Loring Air Force Base. Loring was able to continue at full operation for 20 more years and The County was able to enjoy the benefits of this economic engine.
Thank you Paul Haines for your dedication and service to others.
