The eighth-grade boys’ basketball team at Caribou Middle School lost a league game on the road and won another at home in action last week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, the Vikings fell short at Houlton, 69-55. The Shires’ height and speed advantage was too much for Caribou to overcome. Michael Brigman scored 14 points, Ari Plante netted 13 and three others (Alex Levesque, Braydon Willette and Ryan Austin) chipped in with eight each for the Vikes. Nolan Hodgkins scored 18 for Houlton.

Caribou avenged an early season loss to Presque Isle on Thursday, Nov. 30, taking a 58-39 decision. The Vikings played tough defense and had their fast-break game going in the emphatic victory. Brigman fired in 21 points and Plante added 16, including two 3-pointers. Levesque, Reece Cavagnaro and Griffen McNeal played excellent defense in the win. Malachi Cummings fired in 15 points to lead the Wildcats.
