BANGOR, Maine — Presque Isle junior Madison Michaud and Houlton senior Kolleen Bouchard were two of only nine players in the state who were selected to the All-Region Girls’ Soccer Team, which represents the New England states.
The announcement was made during the 44th Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet, held Sunday at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor.
Michaud is the third Presque Isle player to receive the honor under veteran coach Ralph Michaud. Katie Delong (2005) and Sarah Porter (2008) were the others.

“She is the best finisher I’ve ever seen in the 32 years I’ve coached soccer,” said Ralph Michaud, who has been the girls’ varsity coach at Presque Isle High School since 1998.
With one more season to go, Madison Michaud is the school’s career scoring leader with 86 goals. This past season, she scored in 15 of the team’s 18 games and netted 34 of her team’s 52 goals. She helped PI to the Class B North regional championship and the Wildcats were the state runners-up.
Bouchard’s coach Tim Tweedie had high praise for his team’s standout athlete.
“Over the past four years, what has impressed me the most about Kolleen is her composure under pressure,” Tweedie said. “It doesn’t matter how difficult the situation is, Kolleen always remains calm and focused. She doesn’t get rattled.”
Bouchard finished the season with a school record 37 goals, with her final goal netting the Shires the Class C State Championship. She finishes her high school career with 78 goals and 32 assists in only three years of play as she missed her entire sophomore season due to injury.
Michaud and Bouchard join Kristina Kelly and Kassie Krul, both of Camden Hills; Sara D’Appolonia of Yarmouth, Gaby Paganakos of Scarborough, Anika Elias of Waterville, Eliza Jansujwicz of Bangor and Alex Allain of Hermon on the elite squad.
All-state teams also were announced for both girls and boys. Michaud and Bouchard were included along with these four other Aroostook County standouts — Searra Herbert and Hope Shea, both of Caribou; Morgan Doughty of Ashland and Hannah Nadeau of Madawaska.

Local players on the boys’ all-state team are Griffin Guerrette of Presque Isle, Alex Ezzy of Caribou and Niko Naranja of Fort Kent.

Other players making the Class B, C and D North region teams were recognized. Girls from Aroostook included Savannah Rodriguez of Presque Isle, Aspen Flewelling, Tyra Gentle and Mia Hanning, all of Houlton; Amber Chasse, Megan Cote and Micayla Driscoll, all of Ashland; Brea Bradbury, Kate Levesque and Keara McCrum, all of Central Aroostook; Jenna Dugal and Isabelle Jandreau, both of Madawaska; and Sydney Brewer of Southern Aroostook.
Boys from the area who were cited include Jonah Hudson and Randon Mortland, both of Presque Isle; Noah Martin and Eden Paradis, both of Fort Kent; Nick Perfitt of Houlton, Drew Condon of Ashland, Wyatt Foster of Hodgdon, Lance Lavoie of Madawaska, Tobyn Blatt of MSSM and Isaac Cyr and Colin Goshorn, both of Fort Fairfield.

Additionally, Tweedie was recognized as the Northern Maine High School Girls Coach of the Year, as well as the Maine Small Schools Coach of the Year. The Houlton coach is one of five finalists in consideration for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Region One Coach of the Year award.
