SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Timothy Julius LaMar of Scarborough, Maine, born on April 19, 1955, a lawyer, lost his fight with bone cancer at the South Portland Nursing Home on Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017, at the age of 62.

Tim was known for his jovial humor and gift for storytelling amongst his many friends. Mr. LaMar graduated from University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, on May 23, 1987. On April 26, 1988, Tim was duly admitted to practice as Attorney and Councilor at law and Solicitor Counselor in Chancery in all the Courts of the State of Maine.
He worked for several years as a litigation lawyer for People’s Heritage Bank, now TD Bank. He then moved on to work in the same capacity for Key Bank before becoming self-employed. After graduating from Presque Isle High School, Presque Isle, Maine, in 1973, he attended University of Maine in Presque Isle, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Politics. He continued further study there also earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics graduating in 1981. Tim joined the United States Army National Guard in Presque Isle on January 17, 1975, was attached to 152 Artillery Unit attaining the rank of Sergeant and served for 10 years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1985.
He was an active member of the Scarborough Gun Club where he found a large group of friends who shared the same interests of teaching gun safety and shooting skills.
Tim was the son of Mr. M. Francis LaMar and Mrs. Vivian J. (Prue) LaMar of Presque Isle, Maine. He is preceded in death by his father, Francis LaMar and grandnephew, Hunter LaMar. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Stephen F. LaMar of State College, PA, and David J. LaMar of Frenso, CA, their respective wives, Jane and Karen, as well as his loving nieces and nephews, Nicole A. (LaMar) Levi of Lock Haven, PA, Danielle J. LaMar of State College, PA; Kris R. LaMar of Little Rock, Arkansas; Major Ryan M. LaMar of Federal Way, Washington; René S. LaMar, Dominic F. LaMar and Jeanette M. LaMar all of Fresno, California, grandnieces and grandnephews.
