Police searching for missing Portage man

CARIBOU, Maine — The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office appealed to the public Monday afternoon for help in locating a Portage man.

Sheriff Darrell Crandall said late Monday afternoon that George Tardie, 76, who has dementia, was last seen on foot on High Street in Caribou.

Police began searching for him just before 2:30 p.m.

He was wearing a Miami Dolphins winter coat and a black beanie hat.

Crandall said that Tardie is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 100 pounds and has black hair streaked with gray. He also has brown eyes and a scruffy beard.
