A fairly busy night of sports Friday gave way to a much lighter Saturday, mostly due to the adverse weather conditions.
An alpine ski meet in Fort Kent, Presque Isle’s hockey game at Camden Hills, Presque Isle’s girls and boys basketball games at Orono and the Central vs. Houlton boys basketball game in Houlton were all scrapped from Saturday’s schedule.
The Houlton game will be made up on Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m. No other make-up dates have been established for Saturday’s postponements.
Teams are off Tuesday before the schedule ramps up the rest of the week during the school vacation.
The only game played Saturday that involved teams from the region was in Hodgdon, where Fort Fairfield defeated GHCA in boys’ basketball, 59-43. It was the second meeting between the two teams this season, as the Tigers won on their home court Dec. 9, 66-43. Details of Saturday’s game were not reported, but the Tigers are now 5-1 and atop the Class C North standings and GHCA fell to 2-4.
