ATHLEA A. HERSEY, OAKFIELD – Athlea A. Hersey, 65, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to reunite with her beloved husband on December 19, 2017. She was born January 20, 1952, in Island Falls, the daughter of Ralph and Nadine (Lawlis) Kennedy.
Athlea went to Oakfield High School, graduating in 1970, where she was a cheerleader and voted Best Dancer, something she loved to do until the very end. In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, Linnwood Hersey and together they raised 2 daughters. Athlea’s world revolved around her family. Her 4 grandkids were her life and her heart was the happiest when she was with them. She had a passion for her community and was very involved in the Oakfield Alumni Association as the Secretary and was part of the Oakfield Railroad Museum. She was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church in Oakfield.
She is survived by her 2 loving daughters, Stephanie and Joe Emery of Oakfield and Kathy and Ryan Bushey of Houlton; 4 grandbabies, Kaitlyn and Garrett Sommers, and Emily and Jacob Bushey; sister, Penny and Billy Nadeau; her brother, Donald and Lee Kennedy; brother-in-law, David and Karla Hersey; sister-in-law, Melanie and Kirby Hardy; several nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents; the love of her life, Linnwood; her parent-in-laws, Hilton and Joyce Hersey; and 7 unborn grandbabies.
Friends may call 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating.
