CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, and EASTON, Maine – Norma Langley Dinsmore, recently of Charlotte, NC, passed to eternity on December 18, 2017, in Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Dinsmore is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Robert G. Dinsmore, Jr. and his wife, Ingrid (Charlotte, North Carolina); Beverly Beem and her husband, Brian (Greenville, South Carolina); Randy Dinsmore (Woodbridge, Virginia); two grandchildren, Jennifer Ryan and her husband, Trey (Raleigh, NC); Dr. Jason Dinsmore and his wife, Dr. Justyna Wolak-Dinsmore (Durham, North Carolina), and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Dinsmore.
She was predeceased by a brother, Aubrey Langley, and two sisters, Ardis Peebles and Verlie Larsen.
Mrs. Dinsmore was born on January 29, 1924, in Westfield, Maine, a daughter of the late Elwin and Nettie (Field) Langley.
She graduated from Easton High School in Easton, Maine, in 1942. She worked at the Presque Isle army air base during WWII. On October 31, 1943, she married Robert G. Dinsmore with the Rev Fred Barton officiating. Together with her husband, they owned and operated a potato farm on the West Ridge Road in Easton, Maine. Mrs. Dinsmore was employed by the Northern National Bank, beginning in 1958 continuing through 1985, retiring as the branch manager in Easton, Maine. During these years she was a wonderful and loving mother to her three children, a fun-loving and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and a committed, involved and helpful loving partner to Robert, her beloved spouse of 74 years.
She loved horses and was ever so proud of her prized palomino “Tennessee Walking” horse, “Silver Princess”. She was quite comfortable whether actively involved in banking circles, local civic activities, church leadership, riding her horse “Silver Princess” in local town parades, or devoting her time, loving attention and support to those who were less fortunate in life. She was just as comfortable while helping on the family farm by driving trucks, tractors and potato harvesting equipment when and wherever needed.
Mrs. Dinsmore was a member of the Easton Baptist Church for many years where she was a Sunday School Teacher and actively involved in church activities.
After their retirement, Norma and Robert enjoyed spending their springs, summers and falls at their farm in Easton and their winters with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
At her request there will be no funeral but rather a graveside service in May of 2018 (details to be announced at a later date). Interment will be at Estes Cemetery, Easton, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma’s memory to The Easton Little School or to the Easton High School General Scholarship Program.
