Daniel J. Walker

EASTON, Maine – After a very long illness, Daniel J. Walker, formerly of Ashland and Presque Isle, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2017. He was born on December 8, 1940, in Ashland, the son of Hazen and Beulah “Peggy Fowler” Walker.

Dan was a graduate of Ashland High School and studied electronics from several institutions and NMCC. After 33 years of service, in 1995 he retired from Maine Public Service Company and was previously employed at Walker’s Dairy in Ashland and Bob’s Two Way Radio in Presque Isle. Dan was happiest spending time with his family. Prior to his declining health in 2002, he and Nancy enjoyed traveling. His yearly fishing and hunting trips with Carl and Chris were at the top of his list and he would spend hours preparing their old camper and getting ready. His talks with Cathy were special to him and he was very proud of her accomplishments. Dan was a kind, modest man with a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Saunders Walker; his loving son, Carl and wife, Beth, of Scarborough, loving daughter, Cathy Walker Haskell and husband, Christopher, of Presque Isle; and the light of his life, granddaughter and namesake, Danica Haskell; one brother, William “Bill” Walker of Portland, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Bob and David.
Per Dan’s wishes there will be no service. A private service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island #300, Topsham, ME 04086. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com.
