Cary welcomes New Year’s baby

CARIBOU, Maine — Cary Medical Center welcomed its first baby of 2018 when Nelita Martin of Presque Isle, center, gave birth to Baby Andrew on Jan. 2.

Certified Nurse Midwife Bonnie Bouchard of the Pines Health Services Center for Women’s and Children’s Health delivered Andrew, who came into the world Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at 3:36 pm, weighing 8 lbs, 13.4 oz. and measuring 22 inches long. Labor and delivery nurse Casey Harpine, RN, assisted Martin during labor.

A contingent of hospital staff and community members later joined together to congratulate the new mother. Martin received gifts from the Cary Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, the hospital, and a handmade quilt from the Crown of Maine Quilters.

On hand at the gift presentation were Judith Green-Tarr of Crown of Maine Quilters; Mariel Thomas and April Caron of the Cary Ladies Auxiliary; and Cary/Pines staff members Courtney Bossie, RN; Bouchard; Elsa Collins, CNA; Harpine; Sharon Parent, Pines medical assistant; and Jennifer Plante, RN, Maternal/Child Unit primary charge nurse.
