PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Goldena Virginia (Shaw) Spencer, 89, passed away on December 31, 2017, at a healthcare facility in Presque Isle. She was born on November 5, 1928, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Roy and Pearl (Maclean) Shaw.
Goldena attended church at the Westfield United Pentecostal Church for many years, however she most recently attended where her son pastors at the United Pentecostal Church in Greenbush, ME. Playing her organ and singing was her favorite hobby, however, she also loved to knit and read.
She is survived by six children, Gary Roix (Bonnie) of Wilkesboro, NC; Rev. William Roix (Mary), Greenbush, ME; Janice Churchill Levinge (Dennis), Canton, GA; Steven Roix (Sheryl), Grayson, GA; Rev. Lawrence Roix (Betty-Jo), Livermore Falls, ME; and Deborah McQuarrie (Brian), Ft. Fairfield, ME. She has 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, as well as 8 siblings, Goldena was predeceased by her husband, Delmont Spencer.
Viewing for family and friends will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Family Christian Center in Presque Isle, directly followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. A reception will be held following the service at the church.
