CARIBOU, Maine – Samuel J. LaChance, Sr., 90, died on January 7, 2018, at his Caribou residence.
He was born at Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, on October 8, 1927, the son of the late Paul and Adella (Saucier) LaChance. He married Rita Cyr on October 31, 1953, and she predeceased him on April 16, 2015, following 61 years of marriage.
Mr. LaChance was a mechanic at Columbia Forest Products for many years, retiring in 1991. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Sam loved to tinker and many will remember him for his ability to repair tube radios and televisions. He also enjoyed repairing and restoring TV and radio cabinets.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Kathleen LaChance Jr., of Presque Isle; one sister, Ora St. Peter of Caribou, and Evonne Chasse of Boston, Mass.; one grandson, Kemuel LaChance of Presque Isle, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. LaChance was predeceased by four brothers, Numa, Louis, William, and Marc; three sisters, Corrine Martin, Sophia Clark, and Evonne Chasse, as well as a grandson, Tristan LaChance.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
