Caribou JV girls summaries

The Caribou JV girls’ basketball team won three of its last five games heading into a Jan. 15 contest against Foxcroft Academy. Coach Marc Week’s squad is now 7-5 overall.

The recent stretch opened with a 38-26 victory over MDI on Dec. 27. Alexis Bruso and Brooke Moir led the offense with seven points each. On Dec. 28, the Vikings stopped Ellsworth 41-25 behind Sage Dubay’s 11 points.

On Jan. 6, Caribou was beaten by a point at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. The Vikes fought back from a nine-point deficit to take the lead late, but the host Huskies hit a 3-point field goal with time running out to capture the 42-41 wiin. Alya Theriault had eight points and Dubay seven in the loss.

Presque Isle pulled away late in the fourth quarter in the Jan. 9 game at Caribou, claiming a 45-32 triumph. Kim Susi scored 12 points in defeat, while Dubay posted eight.

In a 42-16 win at Fort Fairfield Jan. 11, tough defense set the tone. The Vikes had good scoring balance as Brianna Reece, Emily Collins and Dubay netted eight points each.
