Senate invites honorary pages

AUGUSTA, Maine — With the Legislature back in session, Sen. Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, is reminding local schools and students about the Senate Honorary Page program at the State House in Augusta.

Pages assist by handing out legislative documents during the session, passing messages between senators, and performing other tasks critical to the legislative process. All students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate in the daylong program.

“I enjoy meeting students and their parents from The County down here in the State House” said Jackson. “Serving as a page is a great way to see how our government works first-hand, and I encourage parents or guardians of interested students to reach out to my office and schedule a visit.”

The Legislature began meeting Jan. 3 and is scheduled to end on April 18. For more information or to register as a page, contact Jackson at (207) 287-1515.
