WINDHAM, Connecticut – Kathryn Dyer, 99, of Windham, Connecticut, wife of the late Wilmot Dyer died peacefully in her sleep as her spirit entered into the arms of her Lord on January 10, 2018. She was born Kathryn Bartley in Westfield, Maine, on June 25, 1918, to the late Henry Earl and Gladys (Chase) Bartley.

Kathryn attended the Aroostook County normal school where she received her teaching degree. She taught for several years before marrying Wilmot and starting a family. Kathryn moved to Mansfield, Connecticut, with her family where she lived for 50 years. She then moved to Windham with her husband and daughter for the last 20 years.
She worked many jobs before retiring from the University of Connecticut where she worked at the Grants and Contracts Department. Kathryn loved her church groups and activities. She was an avid crocheter and enjoyed other fiber crafts. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and cards. She holds Camp Horizons in South Windham close to her heart for their loving care of her special needs sons. As a two-time cancer survivor, she was part of Relay for Life and other charitable cancer organizations.
Kathryn is survived by a daughter, Judith Dyer of Windham, CT, a son, James Dyer of Coventry, CT, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Potter, and her brothers, Clayton, Elmer, Henry, and Harold Bartley. And her son, Ralph Dyer.
Kathryn’s family received relatives and friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Route 195), Willimantic, CT. Her funeral service was held on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First Methodist Church of Mansfield, 29 Puddin Lane, Mansfield, CT. Burial will be at a later date in the spring. Kathryn donated to many charities so in lieu of flowers, donations may be to the First Church of Mansfield, and Camp Horizons, 127 Babcock Hill Rd., South Windham, CT 06266.
