BREWER, Maine — The Carlisle varsity swimmers competed in their first meet in two weeks Saturday following a postponement the previous weekend, and several individuals and a relay team turned in first-place performances.
In team scoring, Carlisle lost to the Brewer Witches. The girls score was 111-60 and the boys was 61-39.
Individual winners for girls were Elizabeth Deschaines in the 200 individual medley in 3 minutes and 15.3 seconds; Maddie Wing in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.53 and the 500 freestyle in 5:50.11. The 400 freestyle relay team made up of Wing, Kyra Thibeault, Abby Espling and Emily Stillion also prevailed in 4:32.48.
Capturing victories for the boys were James Lau in the 500 freestyle in 7:12.69 and Harrison Ma in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.89.
Several runner-up finishes also were recorded during the day. The 200 medley relay team of Abby Raymond, Stillion, Wing and Thibeault finished in 2:16.68 and Thibeault in the 100 backstroke in 1:20.18.
Boys runners-up were Spencer Soucy in the 50 freestyle in 30.36 seconds; the 200 freestyle relay team of Martin Brozman, Chris Parent, Lau and Soucy in 2:06.07; Parent in the 100 backstroke in 1:27.89; and Lau in the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.44.
Carlisle next joins George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill for a three-team meet in Ellsworth slated to start at 7 p.m. Friday.
