BRIDGEWATER, Maine — Traffic on Route 1 in the town of Bridgewater was slowed for two hours Wednesday afternoon after a truck driver from Kentucky lost control on an icy section of the road.
According to the Maine State Police, 53-year-old Dallas Mojica of Lexington, Kentucky, lost control of an unloaded Freightliner box trailer as she was driving north of Route 1 through Bridgewater after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
The tractor trailer went into the southbound lane and struck a snowbank, according to the Maine State Police. Mojica was slightly injured but was not transported to a hospital, according to a press release.
The truck and trailer were both damaged and had to be towed away from the scene, according to the police.
High winds in the area blew snow over the roadway and led to the ice developing on the road as temperatures fell Wednesday afternoon, police reported.
Traffic through the area was stopped intermittently for approximately two hours as sand was applied to the roadway.
