Arlene (Guerrette) Elliott

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – After time with her children and granddaughter, Arlene Elliott (Guerrette), age 72, of Presque Isle, Maine transitioned New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018 at 10:35 p.m. under the loving care of Halifax Hospice Center in Orange City, Florida. Her hands were held by family and her life acknowledged with deep gratitude and love, as her final breath faded into the soft silence of peaceful rest.

Arlene had a quiet strength and understated dignity that benefited those around her. She was quick to tease with a warm laugh at the pleasure of being in on a joke. She was helpful, loving and kind. She was a rock to her children and to her granddaughter. Recognized as a beloved daughter, loving sister, caring aunt, dependable friend, and committed wife; she will be missed.
True to her nature, she rarely complained as she declined under the challenges of cancer. She simply did not want to burden anyone and longed to rest.
She was born on September 5th, 1945, the daughter of the late Alexander Peter Guerrette and Carina Guerrette (Martin). She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood (Duke) Elliott, Jr. of Presque Isle, Maine.
Arlene is survived by her loving children: daughter, Lynnette Ann Elliott of Jacksonville, NC, and her son, Troy David Cunningham, of Deland, FL; her granddaughter, Josslyn Corrin Elliott is also of Jacksonville, NC.
The baby of fifteen children, Arlene is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters, Philip Guerrette and his wife, Kay, of Presque Isle, Nelson Guerrette and his wife, Camilla, of Presque Isle, Edna Albert and her husband, Camille, of Sebago, Maine, Corinne Levesque and her husband, Alphonse, of Caribou, Maine, her sisters-in-law, Marion Guerrette of Presque Isle, wife of Carl, and Velma G. Lovelette, of Raymond, Maine, wife of Paul, and her brother-in-law, Vaughn Drost, of Presque Isle, husband of Annie.
Arlene was preceded in death by her sisters, Angelina Powers and her husband, Edmond, Annie Drost, Gloria St. Peter and her husband, Clifford, Lorraine Tardy and her husband, Hanford, Marlene Forbes and her husband, Roland, of Presque Isle, and her sister-in-law, Salley (Elliott) Rayes of Lewiston, Maine; and her late brothers, Wilfred and wife, Rita, Reno, Peter, Carl, and Paul Guerrette were also of Presque Isle.
She shared a special bond with her sister-in-law, Terri Donovan and her husband, Bill Donovan, both of Gilmanton, NH.
She was the proud Godmother to Kevin Roland Forbes, currently retiring to San Diego, CA.
She had a lifelong love for her best friend, Suzanne Cole of Bangor, Maine.
She leaves behind over one hundred nieces and nephews. She loved all of her cherished family.

Rest well Arlene, enjoy the embraces of family, the swaying of white birches, the flutter of hummingbirds, the scent of flowers, the laughter of friends, and dancing into the mystery of the unknown. Know that you are loved.
A graveside service will be held at Johnson Cemetery on Friday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. Following the service will be a life celebration. Details will follow at a later date.
