With our state lagging behind New England and the country when it comes to job, income, and economic growth, the Governor’s move to unilaterally shut down one of Maine’s leading and most promising industries worth billions of dollars in investment and thousands of jobs is going to hurt so many people all over this state.

Asking Maine people to pay for a secretive, closed-to-the-public commission to study the same issues thoroughly reviewed in 2008 by the Governor’s Task Force on Wind Power Development only adds to the insult for Maine taxpayers.

Maine has an historic opportunity to strengthen its economy and create thousands of jobs by becoming a regional producer of its own clean, renewable energy instead of being dependent on energy from other countries and other states. Only this Governor seems to think energy independence and lower cost for Maine taxpayers and ratepayers is not a great opportunity for our state and people.

The case for change, new leadership, and a Maine governor who understands energy has never been more clear.
