MONROE, ME – Demand Universal Health, a leading advocate of single payer health care, announced their endorsement of Jonathan Fulford, running for Congress in Maine’s 2nd congressional district. Fulford was an early supporter of Medicare for All, and has made universal healthcare a centerpoint of his campaign to represent working Mainers.

Sue Saltmarsh, executive director of the group, said, “We are proud to endorse Jonathan Fulford for Congress.  His support of single payer health care is clear and strong.  He understands the importance of a national health care system that covers everybody, including working class Mainers. We need leaders like Jonathan in Congress to ensure that every family has the care they need.”

“I am honored to receive the support and endorsement and pledge to continue working hard to establish single payer that will provide more coverage and lower costs,” said Fulford. “Today, our healthcare system pads the pocket of special interests at the expense of working families who too often cannot afford the care they need. It’s just plain wrong. I will not take a dime of corporate PAC or lobbyist money because I’m running for Congress to serve the people of Maine — not the special interests. It’s time for an economy and tax system that invests in and benefits the working class.”

Jonathan Fulford has a construction company in Maine’s 2nd District. Prior to starting his own home building business, Fulford was a farmer.  He is running on a platform that creates an economy that works for everyone, providing all Americans with high quality health care and working to reduce the effects of climate change.
