Ash Wednesday Masses this week

ST. JOHN VALLEY — Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, and parishes throughout Aroostook County will offer Mass on Feb. 14.

Masses are scheduled as follows:

Ashland: St. Mark’s Church, 6 p.m.

Benedicta: St. Benedict Church, 9 a.m.

Caribou: Holy Rosary Church, 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.; and Sacred Heart Church (North Caribou), 12 noon.

Eagle Lake: St. Mary’s Church, 12 noon.

Fort Fairfield: St. Denis Church, 8:30 a.m.

Fort Kent: St. Louis Church, 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Frenchville: St. Luce Church, 5:30 p.m.

Grand Isle: St. Gerard-Mt. Carmel, 4 p.m.

Houlton: St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Island Falls: St. Agnes Church, 9:30 a.m.

Limestone: St. Louis Church, 12 noon.

Madawaska: St. David Church, 8:30 a.m.; and St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 6:30 p.m.

Mars Hill: St. Joseph Church, 12 noon.

Presque Isle: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

St. Agatha: St. Agatha Church, 7 p.m.

St. Francis: St. Charles Borromeo Church, 9 a.m.

Soldier Pond/Wallagrass: St. Joseph Church, 6:30 p.m.

Van Buren: St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, 6 p.m.

Lent is a period of intense spiritual renewal both for Christians who prepare to celebrate the annual commemoration of the Paschal mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection, as well as for the elect, who will be baptized and received into the full communion of the Church at Easter.
