Spring Pageant Planning Starts

Last week, Paula Shaw, pageant director, announced the Miss Mapleton Pageant will be held in April. As in years past, there will be five divisions, including Little Miss Mapleton, Pre-Teen Miss Mapleton, Junior Miss Mapleton, Teen Miss Mapleton and Miss Mapleton.

An initial informational meeting with parents and girls interested in competing in the various divisions was held on Feb. 4. At the meeting, Shaw outlined eligibility requirements for each division.  Overall, girls who are residents of Mapleton, Chapman or Castle Hill and are in grades 1- 12 are eligible to enter the pageant.

Practices will start later in February.  Days and times are yet to be announced.   According to Shaw, there is still plenty of time to enter the pageant.  For those considering entering the pageant, more information is available by contacting Paula at 551-1619 or email:  paulabradleyshaw@gmail.com.

Seniors choose officers

Meeting on Jan. 15, the Mapleton-Chapman-Castle Hill Seniors Club elected Mary Desy and Caroline Ballerstein as co-presidents for the group’s 2017-18 year. Also elected were Judy Kennard, secretary, and Grenda Stephenson, treasurer.

The group met Monday, Feb. 5, for a regular potluck luncheon at the Mapleton United Methodist Church.

All seniors in the tri-town area are invited to participate in the regular luncheons that are scheduled for the first and third Mondays of each month through June.  For more information regarding the senior meetings, contact any of the newly elected officers.
