MARS HILL, Maine — Starting with a one-hour introduction on Feb. 1 and a second two-hour session on Feb. 2, SAD 42 employees were the first in Aroostook County to participate in ALICE training conducted by Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines and Lt. Brian Harris.
The training is designed to prepare school employees and students for the possibility of a school-related violent attack.
Sgt. Haines will return to Central Aroostook High School on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to explain ALICE to parents and interested community members in the CAHS music room from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Students may participate in training at a later date.
“ALICE is based on [the] premise that information, authorization, and proactive training are the key to surviving the active shooter,” said the officers.
