CARIBOU, Maine — Sweden Street Software & Consulting Inc. launched under its new name on Jan. 17.
Formerly Birch Point Software LLC, Sweden Street began when founder Steve Wimmer of Boulder, Colo., offered partnership opportunities to Daniel Bell and Shannon Dubay, both of Aroostook County, and Christopher Putnam of Steep Falls.
The rebranded company, Wimmer said, creates a more diversified team that will continue to bring quality jobs and opportunity to Aroostook County and Maine.
“When moving to Aroostook County, Maine, in 2007, my intention was to bring technical job opportunities to the area,” said Wimmer. “As other software companies were leaving, we’ve allowed for some of the local talent to remain. With Chris, Shannon and Dan on board, Sweden Street is poised to bring even more opportunity.”
Sweden Street Software & Consulting offers custom software application development and consulting services to clients in Maine and throughout the United States. The company also plans to release two applications by the end of the year, a personal fitness mobile app and a potato distribution management tool.
Wimmer founded Birch Point Software in 2007 with Dr. Gregory Hamlin of Presque Isle. Sweden Street will take over Birch Point Software client base, software applications and employees.
