Wilda Helen (Chase) McCrum

MARS HILL, Maine – Wilda Helen (Chase) McCrum passed away on Feb. 2, 2018, after a brief illness. She was born to Eugene and Amelia (Amy) Chase on September 1, 1921. Wilda led a very full and active life right up until her passing.

Throughout her years while raising her family, she was actively involved in her church teaching second grade Sunday School and as a Pioneer Girl Leader. Along with her husband Dellie she was also involved with the Gideon Association for a number of years. During that time she was the State President of the Womens Gideon Auxillary for a term. When her family was raised she and Dellie traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada. She also took up painting in her 60’s which she continued to do right up until her passing.
She is survived by her son, Rodney McCrum and wife, Wendy, daughters, Deborah Taylor and husband, Steven, Ruth Parks and husband, Phil, Jennette Hitchcock and husband, Randy, daughter-in-law, Vicki McCrum, ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Delbert, and son, Keith.
Friends may call at 12 noon on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Free Baptist Church in Bridgewater, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mitch Ross officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall. A service of committal will take place at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill, at a later date.
