MARS HILL, Maine — A judge last week sentenced a 22-year-old Mars Hill man to three years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine and other crimes uncovered after a Jan. 27 car crash on Main Street in Mars Hill.
On Feb. 23, Keighan Robichaud Griffin pleaded guilty to seven charges stemming from the January incident, including unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, violating conditions of release and operating under the influence, according to Maine State Police.
On the evening of Jan. 27, Robichaud Griffin was driving north on Main Street in a 1998 Honda Accord when he struck a pickup truck parked in front of Al’s Diner, according to a state police press release. The car struck the truck, pushing it into another truck, and leaving all three vehicles significantly damaged, according to police.
Robichaud Griffin fled the scene of the crash, but was apprehended a short time later and taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle for treatment. A search warrant was executed on Robichaud Griffin’s vehicle, in which police found drugs and evidence of drug trafficking.
Robichaud Griffin was later charged with multiple misdemeanor and felony crimes. On Feb. 23, he pleaded guilty to the charges in Presque Isle District Court and was sentenced to three years in prison.
