PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A Special Olympics basketball round-robin tournament is being planned at Gentile Hall, on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus, on Saturday, March 17.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon and will feature five Snowdogs teams and another representing the Community Living Association in Houlton. The final games will start at 11 a.m., with awards to be presented beginning at 11:30 a.m.

“We have reached out to other programs, schools and communities in hopes that they would be able to start and support other Special Olympics basketball teams in Aroostook County,” said Carl Michaud, director of administration for the Central Aroostook Association. “We are proud to announce that CLA of Houlton has formed a team.”

Michaud added that a few other local programs are working toward getting teams together in 2019.
