PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Thomas N. Sock, born on August 31, 1941, in Molus River, New Brunswick, to Jim and Mary (Sark) Sock, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He was 76 years young.
Having lived in Boston for many years, he was an avid Red Sox fan (much to the chagrin of his granddaughter) and loved them even if they didn’t win the World Series. He loved being outdoors, spending time hunting or fishing or watching the world around him. A card shark in his later years, he enjoyed exercising his skill with friends at the Adult Day Care at The Gathering Place, or anyone he could sweet-talk into playing a hand at home.
No matter what life threw at him, he greeted each day with a smile and an amazing sense of humor, always willing to share a joke or some long forgotten factoid. (He finally gave up the answer to the age-old question, “what’s the difference between a muskrat and a beaver.”) Not even cancer could break his spirit.
He is survived by his children, Thomas A. Sock and his wife, Denise, of Presque Isle; Clarence Sock and his wife, Kandi, of Presque Isle; Mary Pinette and her partner, David Silver, of Ashland; step-children, David Sock of Presque Isle; Sandra McDonald of Caribou, John McDonald of Presque Isle, Rose Beschler of Caribou; his siblings, Yvonne Nadeau of Presque Isle; Deborah Sock and Peter Butler of Rhode Island; Jim Lincoln of Texas; his grandchildren, Ashley, Jason, Tasha, Jesse, Thomas Lee, Desiree, and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Plus, a special family friend, Beth Perry of Presque Isle.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rachel Dedham Sock; his son, Terry Sock; step-sons, Roger McDonald and Thomas McDonald; and sister, Martha Francis.
He will be missed by those that knew him, but will always be remembered in the stories he told, the laughter he shared and the shine he left on everyone he loved.
The family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
Family and friends were invited to celebrate his life at a memorial service that was held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Family Christian Center in Presque Isle with Rev.
