CARIBOU, Maine — With the public’s help, police identified a suspect in the March 12 robbery of the Caribou Rite Aid and the next day arrested Lawrence Cyr, 43, of Bangor in connection with the crime.
Caribou Police received a call about the alleged robbery at 11:45 a.m. on Monday and subsequently sent out a press release seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect based on still images from the store’s video cameras.
With the assistance of Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service, along with members of the public, Caribou police identified Cyr as the suspect and arrested him Tuesday afternoon, charging him with Class A robbery and Class C stealing drugs. Police did not reveal what drugs were stolen or in what amount. The more serious Class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
Cyr is currently being held in Aroostook County Jail. Bail has not been set at this time.
“We would like to thank the public for the information that led to this arrest,” wrote Caribou Police Department Administrative Assistant Laura Adams in a press release issued Tuesday evening.
