MAPLETON, Maine – Shirley A. Ballard, 67, passed away early on Saturday morning, March 10, 2018, at her home. She was born on December 22, 1950, in Ashland, the daughter of William and Mona (Colbath) Stevens.

She worked as a legal secretary for Bud Stewart’s Law office and then for the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, usually wearing her straw hat, and she loved camping, and the great outdoors. Shirley loved her animals and especially her newest puppy, Bodi.
She is survived by her husband, Colin Ballard of Mapleton; four sisters, Elaine Wakefield and her husband, Ray, of Portage Lake and Cotuit, MA, Martha David and her husband, Leo, of Minot, Helen Stevens of Mars Hill, and Norma Meyer and her husband, David, of Winthrop. Shirley was very close to many of her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and three brothers, Walter, Arnold (Jake), and Lester Stevens.
