STEAM workshop for teachers March 26

EASTON, Maine — Delta Chapter of DKG International Society of Women Educators and the Francis Malcolm Science Center will host the second annual STEAM Into Spring Workshop Monday, March 26.

All area educators are welcome to the event, slated at the science center and coordinated by retired educator Elaine Hendrickson.

STEAM into Spring will help participants learn more about the STEAM subjects — science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics — and how to implement them in their classrooms.

“The Francis Malcolm Science Center is the perfect place to host this event since it too is promoting these activities for area students,” said Hendrickson.

DKG has members world-wide in the United States, Japan, Canada, Europe and Latin America.  The organization promotes professional development and personal growth, and awards scholarships and grants to women all over the world to further their education.

The local Delta Chapter has supported the St. Apollonia Dental Clinic by sponsoring a tree at the Festival of Trees and by donating children’s books for use in the waiting room.

“We encourage early career educators in their first five years of teaching by offering grant money to attend workshops, buy additional supplies for their classrooms, to help defray the cost of a college course, etc.,” said Hendrickson.

The event cost is $25 for current educators and $10 for college students, which includes snacks, dinner, 3.5 contact hours, six sessions from which to choose, door prizes, and an opportunity to talk with educators from around the area.
