FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The Fort Fairfield Tigers went through round-robin play undefeated and continued its dominant play through the playoffs to claim first place in the Aroostook League Boys’ Volleyball Div. II Championships, held Saturday, March 17, in the Lawrence Gardner Gymnasium at Fort Fairfield High School.
Fort Fairfield had a 10-0 record in Pool B, ahead of Central Aroostook (7-3), MSSM (6-4), Katahdin (4-6), Van Buren (2-8) and Washburn (1-9).
Ashland went 8-0 to lead the way in Pool A. Greater Houlton Christian Academy was second at 5-3, followed by Easton (4-4), Hodgdon (2-6) and Wisdom (1-7).
In the playoff semifinals, Ashland topped Central Aroostook, 25-21 and 25-15, while Fort Fairfield bested GHCA, 25-11 and 25-9.
In the finals, Fort Fairfield prevailed by scores of 25-1 and 25-22.
Malcolm Langner of Fort Fairfield was named tournament MVP. Other Aroostook League volleyball all-stars were Baily Clark of Ashland, Ethan Grant of GHCA, Collin Sotomayor of Easton, Wyatt Foster of Hodgdon, Dylan Weyeneth of Wisdom, Liam McNamee of Fort Fairfield, Brayden Bradbury of Central Aroostook, Will Whitman of MSSM, Rig Otero of Katahdin, Brenton Soucy of Van Buren and Braedon Campbell of Washburn.
