PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The next round of swimming classes offered by the Presque Isle Recreation Department will be offered March 26 to May 5.
Pre-paid registrations are being accepted through Friday, March 23. Lessons will be held at Gentile Hall on the University of Maine Presque Isle campus.
The following is a list of class offerings along with days and times they are being offered:
Parent/Toddler (6 months to 3 years), which requires an adult to be in the water, has spaces available Tuesday, 9-9:25 a.m.; Thursday, 6-6:25 p.m. or Saturday 9-9:25 a.m.
PRE 1-Ages 3-5 (not comfortable in the water) has openings Tuesday, 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Friday, 9-9:25 a.m. or Saturday, 10:30-10:55 a.m.
PRE 2-Ages 3-5 (comfortable in the water) has openings Tuesday, 9:30-9:55 a.m., 4-4:25 p.m., 5-5:25 p.m. and 6-6:25 p.m.; Wednesday, 4-4:25 p.m. and 5-5:25 p.m.; Thursday, 5-5:25 p.m. and 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Friday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.; or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.; 9:30-9:55 a.m. and 10-10:25 a.m.
PRE 3-Ages 3-5 (swimming) has openings Tuesday, 4:30-4:55 p.m.; Wednesday, 4:30-4:55 p.m. and 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Thursday, 6:30-6:55 p.m.; or Saturday 9:30-9:55 a.m.
Learn to Swim 1- 2 (for the beginner who is comfortable in the water but not swimming) has openings Tuesday, 6-6:50 p.m.; Wednesday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Thursday, 6-6:50 p.m. or Saturday, 10-10:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 3-4 has openings Tuesday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Wednesday, 4-4:50 p.m.; Thursday, 9-9:50 a.m., 4-4:50 p.m. and 5-5:50 p.m. or Saturday, 9-9:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 5-6 has openings Tuesday, 4-4:50 p.m.; Thursday, 5:30-6:20 p.m. or Saturday, 10-10:50 a.m.
Adapted lessons for children with autism, which requires an adult in the water, has an opening Wednesday from 3:30-4 p.m. Adult lessons also has a slot open. Class meets on Wednesday from 9-9:50 a.m.
Shallow water exercise classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. and deep water exercise classes are held Monday and Wednesday from 10-10:50 a.m. The cost varies depending on the number of pre-registered classes.
Recreation center hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Swimming lessons have a $25 fee per participant. Non-residents will have an additional family fee of $50. For more information, call 764-2545. Online registration is now available at www.pirec.org.
