CARIBOU, Maine – Kenneth Roland Keaton, 57, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2108, at EMMC surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born on January 14, 1961, the middle of nine children to Alonzo and Joan (Ouellette) Keaton, Jr.
Kenny met the love of his life, Tamra Barnes, in May of 2006, “the best one yet” as he would introduce her to people. They were married on December 23, 2009, two years to the date that Kenny had proposed to her. After having such sadness that year with Kenny’s mom and Tamra’s grandmother passing away, they opted to end the year on a happy note. They had a small ceremony at home with their family.
Kenny and Tamra enjoyed their time together cooking, camping, traveling, and spending time with their family. Family was everything to Kenny. Kenny was a member of the Caribou High School class of 1979, a 2014 graduate of Northern Maine Community College, and served with the U.S Air Force. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and served as Commissioner of the Boy Scouts for 23 years. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he served as CYO Advisor, and was a member of the Genealogy Club of Aroostook. Kenny was a mobile notary and performed over 300 weddings in his 30 year commission. He loved doing daily crossword puzzles with his mother-in-law or brother, Rick, scratching lottery tickets, hoping for the big win, photography, and reading, especially books by author Clive Cussler. He was a social butterfly, making friends and conversation everywhere he went. Kenny donated his time designing patches for many different organizations. He was a caretaker for his mother-in-law after she became ill before passing in 2017.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Tamra of Caribou, are son, Brian James Keaton of Washington State; eight siblings, Michael Keaton and wife, Susan, Richard Keaton and wife, Diane, all of Caribou, Judy Ouillette and husband, Bob, of Tuscan, AZ, Peter Keaton of Veazie, Thomas Keaton of Biloxi, Miss., Lisa Keaton and her wife, Lisa, of Gulf Port, Florida, Theresa Dube and husband, Ed, and Shelley Massey and husband, Brian, all of Caribou; he is also survived by a brother-in-law, Mark Barnes and fiancée, Paula DeMerchant, of Presque Isle, 26 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews, and his psycho cat, Toby.
