MARILYN P. HANNIGAN, HOULTON – Marilyn P. Hannigan, 84, passed peacefully March 14, 2018, in Houlton, with family by her side. She was born in Ludlow on October 17, 1933, the only child of Ira and Muriel (Corey) Warman.
In 1954, Marilyn married Wayne Hannigan and the two shared 47 years of marriage. The couple followed Wayne’s career in the Air Force from Texas to California and settled in Connecticut for a few years before eventually returning to Ludlow in 1960 to raise their six children.
Marilyn loved reading, cooking, watching birds at the feeder, and the Boston Red Sox. She was most happy when her large family was gathered together. One of her proudest moments of late was being able to tell others that she had danced at her grandchildren’s weddings. Marilyn was always there to listen and will be remembered for being kind-hearted and a lover of stray animals.
Marilyn will be greatly missed by her children, Mike Hannigan of Greene, Colleen London (Doug) of Houlton, Gary Hannigan of Ludlow, Lori Smith of Bradley and Brian Hannigan (Nicole) of Houlton. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jason Hannigan, Heather Bultez (George), Heidi Miller (Jamie), Eben Smith (Christin), Erin Perry (Brad), Emily Lonko (Brian), Ashley Hannigan, Megan Capozzi (Josh), Avonlea, Justin, Stephen, Devon Hannigan and Jake Hannigan; and a very special granddaughter, Holly Sprague (Mike). She also leaves eight great-grandchildren, Dominic, Gavin and Jada Miller, Bram, Violet and Marian Smith, Rhett Perry and Aubree Hannigan. She will be greatly missed by her three friends, Jeannie, Pat and Charlotte; and her Cameron’s Market work “gang.” She was predeceased by her husband; her son, Brent; two daughters-in-laws, Debbie (Sewall) and Peggy (Boulier); son-in-law, Bill Smith; grandchildren Joseph Folsom, Nicole and Matthew Hannigan; and great-grandson, Hoyt Capozzi.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care Marilyn received from Dr. Abouleish and at Madigan House and the Madigan Skilled Nursing Facility.
