So, it is official, the Presque Isle city councilors got what they wanted — no surprise there. It does not matter whether the decisions are made in Presque Isle, the Blaine House or the White House, the will of the people means absolutely nothing today.
We heard a lot of not very convincing reasons why the council advocated for going with United vs. the far more compelling reasons put forth by many people who advocated for staying with PenAir.
It would be interesting to know the real reason the council wanted this change so badly. I have a friend who flies frequently; she refuses to fly on United Airlines. Fortunately, she does not live in an area that gives her no choice.
I just want to say say “Goodbye” to the Northern Maine Regional Airport; I have always been satisfied with the airport and the service.
In my opinion the people of northern Maine no longer have suitable air service so I will make alternative arrangements for future travel.
