HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 96 calls for service during the period of March 4-10, including the following.
Sunday, March 4
Patten: Trooper Adams was patrolling in Patten, saw a vehicle on the road and recognized the New Hampshire operator as a male he had summoned for operating without a license two days prior to this date. He stopped the male and again summoned him for operating without a license. The male had a suspended New Hampshire license.
Monday, March 5
Weston: Tr. Bell responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Weston and found that the operator had left the scene of the crash. He determined that the 29-year-old male was in habitual offender status and on bail. He was unable to locate the male but submitted a report to the DA’s office for a warrant to be issued on the male, with charges of operating after revocation (2 priors) class C, violation of conditions of release class C, leaving the scene of a property damage crash class E and failing to report a crash, class E.
Cross Lake: Cpl. Hafford was patrolling in Cross Lake and met a vehicle travelling 82 in a 45-mph zone. Cpl Hafford issued the 32-year-old male a summons for criminal speed.
Sherman: While Cpl. Michaud was on patrol in Sherman, he pulled a vehicle over for having an expired inspection sticker. After speaking with the operator, he determined that the female operator’s right to operate was currently under suspension. She was cited for operating after suspension and arrangements were made to get the vehicle back to the owner’s residence.
Castle Hill: While at home, Tr. Stoutamyer received a tip about the possible location of a stolen vehicle. Cpl. Michaud followed up on the information and ultimately recovered a stolen 2016 Charger. The vehicle had been stolen out of Biddeford and was hidden in a barn on some rental property. The vehicle was towed and returned to the owner the next day.
Tuesday, March 6
Houlton: Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement on I-95 when he observed a truck make a lane violation. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. As the truck was making its stop in the breakdown lane, Duff observed the truck’s wheels lock up and a lot of movement inside the vehicle. Tr. Duff spoke with the two male occupants and later determined that the men had switched drivers. The man who owned the truck was tired and let his employee drive. The employee had a suspended license. Duff issued the man a summons for operating after suspension.
Madawaska Lake: Tr. Curtin responded to Madawaska Lake when a neighbor reported that he thought a camp next door had possibly been broken into. The man reported seeing someone at the camp on a snowmobile. MSP ultimately tracked down the subject and determined that he had permission to use the camp as an access point to the lake.
Wednesday, March 7
Linneus: Cpl. Quint was conducting rural patrol in the town of Linneus when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. He learned that the male operator’s license had expired in August 2017, summoned the man for his expired license and called for a licensed driver.
Thursday, March 8
Blaine: On March 8 at 12:11 p.m., the Maine State Police responded to a rollover crash that occurred on Military Rd. (Rt. 1) in Blaine. Tr. Ryan Kilcollins responded to investigate the crash and learned that the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling south and lost control on the snow-/slush-covered roadway. The vehicle skidded off the right side of the road, hitting the frozen snowbank, and rolled over onto its side. The vehicle came to rest leaning against a utility pole and was heavily damaged. The 16-year-old female operator was alone in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The operator was not transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Friday, March 9
Linneus: Tr. Adams did a warrant check on a 34-year-old male in Linneus. He located the male at his residence and arrested him on two active warrants, then transported the male to the Aroostook County Jail.
Fort Kent: Cpl. Hafford was patrolling on Rt. 1 in Fort Kent and met a vehicle travelling 81 mph in a 50-mph zone. He issued the 18-year-old male a summons for criminal speed.
Saturday, March 10
Mapleton: Cpl. Michaud was dispatched to a harassment complaint in Mapleton. He learned that the complainant actually had a warrant for his arrest for a prior assault and criminal threatening complaint, made on the person he had just complained was harassing him. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to jail.
