LEVANT, Maine – Dawn M. Smith, 77, passed away peacefully at her Levant home on March 23, 2018. She was born on August 8, 1940, in Masardis, Maine, the daughter of Herman and Tena (Adams) MacLean.
Dawn graduated from Ashland Community High School in 1958 and Aroostook State Teachers College in 1963. She proudly taught elementary school, primarily first grade, for 31 years at Levant Consolidated School.
Dawn was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. After retiring, she enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter, spending time with her family, and watching her favorite sports teams.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen, and her two daughters, Stephanie Ware and husband, Kevin, of Holden, and JoAnna St. Louis of Cambridge, MA; her beloved granddaughter, Kayla Ware and her fiancé, Jon Taylor, of Carmel; her sister, Lois Holmes; her brothers, James MacLean and wife, Rong, Neil MacLean and wife, Loversa, and David MacLean; sister-in-law, Sandra Guyer and husband, Rick, and brother-in-law, Sterling Smith and wife, Gail, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Robert MacLean, her mother-in-law, Marguerite Smith, brother-in-law, Preston Holmes Jr., and sister-in-law, Suzanne Smith.
A private graveside memorial service will be held in Ashland, Maine, in the summer of 2018.
