The Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District held an orchard pruning class recently as part of their annual Winter Ag School at Dan and Bonnie Petroski’s in Ludlow. MOFGA’s orchardist C.J. Walker led the outdoor session and showed participants how to first assess a fruit tree and then determine what and how much to prune for best tree and fruit health. Participants were able to practice their pruning on the many wild and grafted apple trees growing on the land. (Joseph Cyr)
