PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Meta C. Giggey, 77, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 11, 2018, at her home. She was born on December 18, 1940, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hansen) Gagnon.
She worked as assistant to the Director in Financial Aid and retired from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1999. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Larry. She is survived by a son, Dane Wilcox and his wife, Jamie, of Morre, OK, a daughter, Amy Labbe and her husband, Howard, of Presque Isle, a step-son, Dana Giggey and his wife, Sharon, of Gray, a sister, Opal Smith of St. Agatha, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Larry Giggey, and a brother-in-law, Richard Smith.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood. Friends called from 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church until time of the Mass. Interment will be at North Main Street Catholic Cemetery later this spring.
