CARIBOU, Maine – William L. Ward, 70, passed away April 10, 2018 at VA Togus with his family by his side as a result of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Farmington, Me., May 5, 1947, the son of Andrew and Marcella (Tracy) Ward. He attended Caribou and Hartford, Connecticut schools and served with the U S Marine Corp during Vietnam. He married Bonnie Langley August 21, 1971. Mr. Ward owned and operated a home remodeling business in Windsor Locks, Conn., for many years. He was a well-known lead guitar player with several bands in Connecticut, he loved the outdoors and spending time fishing with his wife Bonnie, spending time with his family, especially the guitar jam sessions with his son Josh, and was an avid woodworker. He was a life member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 46 years, Bonnie of Caribou, are two sons Joshua Ward and wife Tina of Presque Isle and Jamie Meagher and wife Carol of Enfield, Conn., one daughter Robin Holmes and husband Tim of Enfield, Conn., his two beloved granddaughters Kalyn and Madison Holmes, three brothers Ardene Ward and wife Karen of Corinth, John Doody and wife Taryn, and Paul Doody all of Enfield, Conn., several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ward was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Harold Doody and two brothers Dana and Alvin.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery at a later date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com.
