Gawler Family Band to play in Houlton

HOULTON, Maine — The Gawler Family Band from Belfast will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Houlton on Saturday night, April 28, at 7 p.m.

Recognized as one of Maine’s leading folk music groups, the band has a repertoire of old and new sounds from many traditions. They accompany interweaving family harmonies with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo, cello, guitar, ukulele and piano, as well as a few surprises.

Whether they are crooning a poignant ballad or delivering a rollicking fiddle tune, their unique arrangements often go along with anecdotes of historical or humorous content.

The family has three albums to their credit and have delighted audiences across the Northeast.

The performance will be held in the church sanctuary at the corner of Military and Kelleran streets. Advance tickets are $18 and are available at Wired Cafe and The Cup Cafe. Tickets at the door are $20 and children under 12 are free.

Concessions will also be available during a short intermission and The Cup Cafe will be open in the basement before and after the show.
