LIMESTONE, Maine — Patrick St. Peter on Tuesday again won a special election to serve the remainder of former Selectman Steven Beaulieu’s term, which ends in 2019. Beaulieu, who previously served as the chairman, resigned in late December to deal with a family medical issue.
St. Peter also won the same seat during a special election on March 20, but the town had to nullify the results and schedule another election because a warrant was not properly posted the first time.
St. Peter won both elections by a significant margin — he received 90 votes to Paul C. Durepo’s 53 during the March 20 election, and won the April 24 election 130 to 71.
A total of 208 ballots were cast during Tuesday’s election, with four write-in votes counted and three ballots voided for various reasons, according to signed results from Town Clerk Vicki Page.
Limestone’s regular election to fill two seats on the Select Board is scheduled for June 12. Voters will be able to select two of five candidates for three year terms to fill the seats of current members Greg Ward and Melissa Devoe. Ward is currently the only incumbent seeking re-election. The other candidates are Walt Elliott, Paul Durepo III, Jessy Philbrick, and Julie Weston. The town’s annual meeting is scheduled for the following day.
