FORT FAIRFIELD AND PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Monique B. Tremblay, 98, wife of the late Roger P. Tremblay, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2018, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born on April 9, 1920, in Rivere-du-Loup, Quebec, the daughter of Charles and Bernadette (Dube) Bernier. She was educated in Rivere-du-Loup Schools and was married to Roger P. Tremblay on October 23, 1943, at which time she became a resident of Fort Fairfield.
Monique was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, a past member of the Aroostook Valley Country Club, the Aroostook Valley Seniors Ladies Golf Association and Women’s Thursday Afternoon Bowling League.
In addition to her parents, Monique was predeceased by her husband of sixty-five years, Roger, on August 20, 2009; four brothers, Fr. Rosaire Bernier, Fr. Gilles Bernier, Roger Bernier, and Jean-Paul Bernier; two sisters, Fernande Gauthier, and Therese Courbron; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Levesque; three brothers-in-law, Paul Courbron, Fernand Levesque, and Victor Gauthier. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and John Russell of Fort Fairfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger C. and Anna Tremblay of Fort Fairfield, Michael and Roberta Tremblay of Biddeford; three grandsons, Sean Russell and his wife Katie of Hooksett, NH, Matthew Tremblay of Cumberland Foreside, Jason Tremblay and his wife Heidi of Saco; two granddaughters, Julie Fidler and her husband Victor of Beverly, MA, Katie Peters and her husband Christian of Northfield, NH; six great-grandsons, Quinn and Colin Fidler, Benjamin and Thomas Tremblay, and Alexander and Theodore Peters; two great-granddaughters, Courtney and Hannah Russell; one brother-in-law, Edwin Tremblay of Rimouski, Quebec; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, April 27, 2018, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at later in the spring at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. The Tremblay family would like to thank the medical staff at The Aroostook Medical Center for the wonderful and compassionate care provided to our mother and the family during her final days.
