AUGUSTA, Maine — Voting is underway for the My Maine Sign contest.
The MaineDOT has received nearly 2,000 safety-related message submissions. The messages are designed to fit on highway message boards that are displayed throughout the state. The department has selected 60 top messages that are funny, smart and clever, dealing with safety subjects such as distracted driving, speeding, tailgating, impairment and even eating while driving. Any of those 60 may appear on the highway signs in the future.
Now it’s time for the public to vote on their favorites. To cast a vote, visit mainedot.gov. You will see entries for our large and smaller boards. The website includes “traffic light voting”; Vote for each message as follow: Red light, “Don’t like it”; yellow light, “Like it”; and green light, “Love it.”
Individuals can vote once daily until April 30.
Prizes will include passes to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory, Gray Animal Park and Maine state parks.
