PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center is hosting the creative work of local artist and Ashland native Lindsey Cyr during the month of May.

Her Opening Reception will be held at Wintergreen on May 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. during the First Friday Downtown Art Walk. Refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to the public.

Born in Presque Isle, Cyr was raised in Ashland.  She is a mixed-media artist who crafts in clay, wood and acrylics.

She is the youngest of a close-knit family who strongly supports her to push her boundaries and follow her heart.

“Being so close to my family members, I use many of my life experiences as motivation for my artwork,” said Cyr.

The most recent event expressed in her art is the passing of her father last autumn.

“My father was my idol and biggest fan,” Cyr said.  “With the struggle of such a major loss, I pressed my emotions and grief into a collaboration of pieces to reflect upon my desire to create my own business.”

Cyr said she cherishes support not only from friends and family, but also from her husband Kyle and their young son, Thomas.
